When I first I heard the song I immediately knew I had to purchase it even though it was way over my capability.
It was my first really fast piece. The possibility of being able to play such a beautiful piece always kept me motivated.
The interesting part of Vanquished is that I feel like it’s very technichal. It has many ”scales” and really requires you to make the melody get heard cause the left hand play A LOT and it can easily overpower the right hand.
To me it also has a little bit a Bach feel to it. Both of the hands are ”always” playing.
It’s a great piece to have as a warm-up, definitely something I’ve been taking adventage of to make my warm-ups a bit fun and different.
Overall it’s a great piece that has many technichal benefits. No matter how challenging it is you’ll want to keep playing. It sounds adventurous, has a great main melody and many variations throughout the piece.
Other pieces I would like to recommend is Discoveries and Invocation (a favorite of mine and a piece I’m working on right now).
Keep up the good work David and I can’t wait for more music to come!
