Canon In D & Ode To Joy is based on two beautiful pieces of music by Pachelbel and Beethoven, which I often played at weddings when I was an organist. The two melodies have several things in common and work quite nicely together. It is not a difficult arrangement, and intermediate pianists will be able to play it without a problem. The piece is in 4/4 time and begins in D major before modulating to Eb major. Make sure to always bring out the melody whenever it is present. More importantly, keep the accompaniment softer. Pedal can be used but sparingly, so listen carefully.
