My fav composer

My piano teacher introduced me to David Hicken. I started with his The Bell Carol, since it was around Christmas time. SUCH a cool adaptation of Carol of the Bells. I loved learning that. A little while after that I took a break from playing piano because I got busy but recently I've been wanting to get back into it but I needed a piece that would motivate me, I piece that I really wanted to learn so I wouldn't quit again. I remembered David Hicken and listened to a few of his songs (all are amazing btw) but I came across this one and HAD to learn it. It reminds me of an epic fantastical movie theme but like 10× better. It's a super fast piece but most of the left hand is almost the identical rhythm and fingers as it is in The Bell Carol, which helped me out a lot. I'm still in the midst of learning it and I suspect it will take a while, but I love it so much. Let this be your sign to listen to/play more of David Hicken!!!!!

Spellbinding

I love the driving rhythm, especially in the left hand. All 5 of the Incantation songs have this same characteristic. (This same characteristic is also found in the Bell Carol and The Rhapsodist.) Incantation V feels like it could be a sound track of a swashbuckling pirate movie. It is so much fun to play and sounds great when mastered!

mesmerizing

This piece is both mesmerizing and exciting! I don't know how he manages to combine both of these seeming opposite feelings, but David is a genius! I highly recommend learning this piece. It isn't too difficult, and the reward is great.
Thank you David for another masterpiece!

Another Masterpiece!

David has done it again!!! Another amazing piece that is so much fun to play. In my opinion if you are going to begin learning one of the incantation pieces I would start with this one as it’s the easiest on the hands and fits nicely in the fingers. Highly recommend this piece to add to your repertoire for sight reading and keeping your technique clean. What an enjoyable piece of music to play
