I love your music. Thank you from Japan.(I am sorry for my poor English.)
The Art of Piano turned out to be exactly the inspiration I needed to take up serious piano playing again. David’s music is virtuosic yet approachable: the pieces are technically demanding, but melodically so fluid that you want to dive in immediately. What strikes me most is the blend of clarity and emotion in his compositions. Each piece seems to invite you not only to play better, but also to truly enjoy practising again. The Quest, for example, has a strong sense of forward motion with an almost adventure-like energy. The piece demands a bit of endurance because of its drive that rarely relaxes and its brisk tempo. It’s certainly demanding, but still very approachable with practice.
The Art of Piano is inspiring and motivating, ideal for those rediscovering the piano and equally delightful for seasoned players.
Congratulations, David, on your beautiful compositions. They contain all the ingredients of music I love - the depth, logic and beauty of Bach, Handel and Mozart, the creativity and rich moods of Mendelssohn, the playfulness of Chopin, the dancing jazzy rhythm of Gershwin and Joplin, the emotional touch of David Foster and Hans Zimmer. There’s something for everyone. And the pieces are very playable for everyone. Beginners will learn quickly. Intermediate players will be able to jump in right away. And even advanced players will have a lot of fun. I invite everyone to look at David’s YouTube channel to see him playing all of his pieces. What a blessing that is. Imagine if we had been able to see Bach or Mendelssohn play their pieces on YouTube! Keep up the good work, David! And the App is fantastic. I’m using my iPad Pro 13 inch and the quality is amazing.
Beautiful music, with some patience very playable for my mediocre level, vall be it somewhat slower than the you tube version.i would have liked somewhat more finger indications.
I have been playing piano for over 50 years and now teach privately. One of my students asked me to get them David Hicken Piano music... After listening to some great keyboard interpretations I purchased the Art of Piano Book.. many great arrangements and will be challenging for some but a great goal to reach for others.Look to working through each srrangment with my students! Great take!
