This fully virtual event invites pianists of all ages and abilities to perform a selected piece and share it with an international audience — all from the comfort of home.

Entry Fee: $49 USD

Deadline: November 1, 2025

Winners Announced: November 7, 2025

 


How to Enter


Step 1: Choose Your Piece

Select one work from the official competition lists:

List A – Lower Intermediate

List B – Intermediate

List C – Advanced

(Repertoire lists coming soon)


Step 2: Pay Entry Fee

Submit the $49 entry fee before uploading your video.

Step 3: Record Your Performance

One continuous, unedited video

Performer and hands clearly visible

Sheet music may be used

No post-editing or enhancement


Step 4: Upload to YouTube

Title format: David Hicken 2025 Competition – Your Name – Piece Title

Set video to Public or Unlisted

 


Step 5: Submit Your Entry

Paste the YouTube link into your entry form

Include your name, name of piece and duration

Judging Criteria


Performances will be evaluated on:

Technical accuracy

Musical interpretation

Tone and sound

Expression and communication

Overall presentation


Each entry will be judged fairly within its selected difficulty level.
