A New Chapter: My Mountain Organ Sanctuary

A New Chapter: My Mountain Organ Sanctuary

Nestled high in the remote mountains of Chai Prakan, far from the bustle of daily life, stands my second home — a peaceful retreat where inspiration flows as freely as the mountain air. It’s here, surrounded by nature and silence, that a new instrument has just arrived: a magnificent Italian-made organ, now fully powered by the sun.

This new organ is a thrilling addition to my musical world. The four-manual instrument you’ve seen in many of my videos is inspired by the grandeur of English cathedral organs, while this new three-manual instrument draws its design from the elegant 18th-century instruments of Germany and the Netherlands. Each has its own unique character and voice, and exploring their differences opens up a wider palette of colours, textures, and emotions — allowing me to express a broader and more diverse range of musical ideas.

The organ was carefully delivered and installed a few weeks ago, and already its sound fills the mountain air with something timeless. Whether I’m improvising quietly in the early morning or working through new compositions as the sun sets over the hills, the instrument feels like it belongs here — as much a part of the landscape as the trees and rocks themselves.

This special place will become the source of new recordings, videos, and compositions that I look forward to sharing with you soon. It’s more than just a studio — it’s a sanctuary. A space to reflect, to compose, and to create without distraction. And I can’t wait to see where this journey leads.

Stay tuned.

— David

After arriving in Bangkok by way of Qatar, the new Viscount Domus P45 was then driven about 12 hours north, to the district of Chai Prakan in Chiang Mai province. It is located in Doi Wiang Pha National Park, not far from the border with Myanmar.
