I like your music very much but although I am a quite trained pianist since 50 years to play it in your original speed is very challenging.

I have been a piano teacher for many years and didn't always love scales when I was young. Fortunately for me, my teacher explained why I needed the scale technic in my fingers and then it made sense to practice the technical exercises. That was 60 years ago. What David says here in the first 21 pages of this workout is similar to the lesson I received. Everyone interested in learning piano or a parent of one should read this so they know there is a purpose for what they are about to learn besides the education of the fingers. I won't tell you because you need to purchase this manual and learn it for yourself! Also, It's really a wonderful collection of all the major and minor scales, arpeggios, chromatics, and chords besides the very important information in the first section. Thanks, David, for formatting this workout in this manner. I love it and everyone else will too!

The contents goes from expectations, training, choosing a piano, Things to do now, posture, technique, fingering, listening, studying, performing, tips for parents. As a piano teacher for 55 years, I have never seen such an instruction book and I say, "Bravo!" to you, David, for bringing this information to the public in book form. I would suggest if you are a piano teacher that each of you download and use this information in your lessons. Better yet, get the parents to buy a book for themselves! It is so useful for the parent who is starting a young one with lessons. Also, for anyone who is taking lessons as well because they will have questions answered from reading this book.

While challenging to play, it captures the real essence of Bach's work and stirs one's musical passion unlike other transcriptions. David Hicken has shown the "piano world" something quite new and amazingly creative while retaining the soul of Bach's work.
