The interplay of melodies reminds me of a mother's connection to her children. I lost my own mother 6 years ago, but I still feel her close. This piece speaks of another kind of communication, and fills my heart.

Amor Matris is a brilliant tribute woven in notes. David Hicken’s artistry shines through every note — tender, evocative, and deeply moving. I commissioned this piece in memory of my Mom, and David captured her essence with sublime grace. Slow for me to learn and play (I only hope I will give it the justice it deserves), its emotional depth speaks directly to the heart.
