Phenomenal! David’s rendition of this well-known Christmas Carol is superb. Never having a dull moment, this song is on fire. His music is exciting, energetic, passionate and lovely. His transition to different keys is brilliant as is the introduction of two other Christmas tunes partway through this piece. And the addition of major chords here and there in this otherwise minor scale song are delightful surprises.
I enjoy listening to David playing this song and have started working on it myself. I know it’ll take me hours of practice to master this version (and probably never at the speed with which he plays it), but it will be worth the effort. I am thrilled to have stumbled across this man’s wonderful music. My latest obsession. Everything I’ve heard from David Hicken is outstanding and such a joy to hear.
